Hans is a Director at Control Risks’ Asia Pacific practice, based in Melbourne, Australia, where he leads the Discovery and Data Insights practice for Australia and New Zealand. He specializes in handling complex matters involving investigations and technology, including business email compromise, white-collar crime, regulatory response, employee misconduct, data breach investigations, and litigation. Recently, Hans has advised on managing large volumes of data during discovery requests and regulatory inquiries, participated in a cross-border investigation involving 25TB of data, and led a Business Email Compromise investigation that uncovered fraudulent wire transfers. He has also conducted digital forensic work to support internal investigations, revealing evidence of fraudulent activity, data exfiltration, and intellectual property theft, and managed a data breach investigation involving malicious software.

Before joining Control Risks, Hans worked for six years at a global consulting firm in its forensic technology team, focusing on digital forensics, incident response investigations, and eDiscovery. Prior to that, he spent a decade with an international steel distributor, managing global IT infrastructure and security. Hans holds a bachelor’s degree in business information systems, cyber forensics, information security, and management, and has multiple certifications, including GIAC Certified Forensic Examiner, GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst, Cellebrite CCPA & CCO, Nuix Data Discovery Master, Reveal Genius, and Relativity Master.
